RACHEL AHN

Oboist Rachel Ahn is the acting second oboe of the North Carolina Symphony. She graduated with her undergraduate and master’s degrees from The Juilliard School under Elaine Douvas and earned a second master’s degree at Yale School of Music. She has performed and assisted in several orchestras such as Seattle Symphony, The Metropolitan Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra, Montclair Orchestra (New Jersey), Princeton Symphony Orchestra, and more.
Ahn started playing oboe in middle school and entered the Juilliard Pre-College division in high school. She later returned to become the orchestra mentor and reed assistant there during her time at The Juilliard School. During her time at Yale, she was the oboe teaching assistant at Mannes Prep.
