After a season as an acting member of the second violin section, Pablo Sánchez joined the North Carolina Symphony’s first violin section in 2022. Before moving to Raleigh, he was a substitute for the Los Angeles Philharmonic; he was previously a member of both the Akron Symphony Orchestra and Canton Symphony Orchestra from 2019-2021.

Sánchez started his musical training in the conservatory of music at Montemorelos University in Mexico, where he studied with Nataliya Semanivska. He currently holds a bachelor’s degree from Andrews University, where he studied with Carla Trynchuk; a performance certificate, under Jason Uyeyama’s instruction; and a master’s degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he was a student of Stephen Rose.

Long active in chamber music, Sánchez has studied and participated in master classes with members of The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Takács Quartet, Miami String Quartet, American Piano Quintet, Euclid Quartet, and the Cuarteto Latinoamericano, as well as with violinists like Christian Tetzlaff, Ani Kavafian, Kurt Sassmannshaus, Jennifer Koh, Robert Chen, Rachel Barton Pine, and Dylana Jenson. He has received fellowships to attend summer music festivals at the Rocky Ridge Music Center and the Aspen Music Festival and School in Colorado and was named a Bank of America Fellow by the Sphinx Organization in 2020.

Sánchez has been teaching for more than 10 years, with experience at elementary schools and high schools as well as at the conservatory and university level. He enjoys exploring downtown Raleigh, cooking, eating, and lifting weights.
